Clean Water
Did you know 90% of Delaware’s waterways are polluted and Delaware faces an annual $100 million dollar deficit to address water quality needs? Sussex County is in a coastal zone and has very sensitive geology due to the sandy soils and the high water table.
Public Health
Public health and environmental health go hand-in-hand. Any comprehensive public health plan will not fail to recognize environmental health, or the relationship between people and their environment. Environmental health encompasses initiatives working to reduce pollutants in water, soil, air and even food in order to provide for the commonwealth of the community.
Environmental Justice
According to the EPA, “Environmental justice is the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income, with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies.”
